"Bengal defamed in the name of Sandeshkhali": Abhishek Banerjee
Actor-producer Dia Mirza, the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Secretary General’s Advocate for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), attended the sixth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) in Nairobi on February 27. Mirza participated in an afforestation engagement at Karura Forest's urban lung space, pressing the need for environmental conservation. Sharing her experience, Mirza highlights the positive impact of the World Restoration Flagship awards, recognizing countries making strides in improving environmental health. Mirza feels that it is high time that people spread awareness and start working rigorously to save planet Earth.
During the UNEA-6 session, Dia Mirza focuces attention on the critical role of individual behavioral change stating, “Behavioural change is extremely important. If the high net worth individuals were to genuinely change the way they live, travel, and behave in the running economy, a lot would change, people would be inspired. Have a travelling bottle while going anywhere or have started segregating their waste, and many other things that they can do.”
She urges people to start planting trees, combat pollution, and take tangible steps at the grassroots level.
